I was at the ortho again last Sunday. Doc Erich wanted a weekly adjustment cuz he's moving my lower molars backwards. And since I brought Princess (my no-line charm) along, I didn't have to wait for my turn. Doc Erich was even at the second floor gaming shop when I passed by. He was seated in the computer near the door so he could see if someone's going to his clinic at the third floor. He occupies the whole third (and last) level so whoever goes up the stairs must be going to see him. I was really lucky cuz two patients were already waiting in line when I went out.

I was going to buy slippers so we went to SM afterwards. I needed to buy one cuz Juansen got my favorite pair. Well, okay, accidentally got. He was wearing it during their last day of stay here last holidays and his mom was already throwing a fit when they were about to go cuz Juansen was still in front of the PC and he's the only one not in the car yet. The poor kid wasn't even able to change slippers.

I gave up looking for Havaianas in SM Bicutan so I went straight to Chris Sports to just buy any pair I would fancy. They had good ones but but limited sizes - size 10 up. I'm only size 8 on slippers. LOL!

Went to Bench which was just beside Chris Sports but they wouldn't let me in! LOL! They wouldn't allow pets, even small ones, inside. To think that Princess was in a bag! BENCH IS NOT ANIMAL FRIENDLY! I wouldn't buy anything from them anymore unless they allow pets inside their stores.

And since SM Bicutan has so limited stores, I had no place else to go for thong slippers other than Penshoppe! Yeah they're pet-friendly. The lady even carried the pet bag and followed me along while I went shopping. Bought two pairs and a shirt. They're having a sale on all items. And their shirts have really good fit.

Anyway, back to slippers. I was thinking of buying four pairs but I thought of my mom. She'd find it ridiculous and to avoid discussions, I only bought 2.

I like the black one better than the other.

Also dropped by my favorite computer store, the ever-friendly Asianic. Haha. They really, really give me great discounts on anything they have. They even call the main office sometimes to ask if they can lower the price a bit more than what they could offer at the branch.

And since I bought more stuff than what I originally planned, I bought an eco-friendly shopping bag at the bookstore.


LOL! It's better than the SM green bag.

Lastly, we dropped by Animal House. I've been wanting a new leash and collar but I always forget to buy one. Well not this time.

They only have a small collection.

I promise to go to... Cartimar next time. Haha.

First post was last January 20 so it really must be an idea from the Obama team. I really, really think it would be a great administration. What with Blackberries and fashion senses. But I hope they'd look at the environmental issues first.

China may not enjoy the Lunar New Year which begins on the 26th. A second bird flu death this year was actually recorded at the province of Shandong. The victim fell ill on January 5 and died just last Saturday. It was less than two weeks after a 19-year-old girl died of the same virus (H5N1) in Beijing.

It was said that the H5N1 virus survives longer in the cold. And it's during winter when rural people bring in live poultry into their homes to shield them from the cold.

The year of the earth ox may be another year of bird flu. Hope not.

Two Pinoys in Obama’s Inauguration

Paul Michael Cruz is in Washington D.C right now attending the University Presidential Inaugural Conference (UPIC) which is attended by hundreds of students from around the world. UPIC is being held until the 21st in conjunction with Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration.

The 19-year-old college freshman from the Philippines was said to be chosen for his outstanding performance at a Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. and New York in 2007.

But it wasn’t free. The airfare and conference fees were reported to cost him $4,000.

Paul Michael looked so excited while waiting for his flight January 16. Well, who wouldn't be? But would you believe that he doesn't have any political plans? Attending the Global Young Leaders Conference alone would make you wonder.

But whatever his future plans are, he surely makes us Filipinos so proud. Go Pinoy!

And yea, Charice is also there.

But the Vatican in YouTube is comparable to these ever sprouting religious groups holding prayer meetings in the streets.

Freestyle

I’m a freak when it comes to organizing things, especially my schedules. And my old Palm (which has been with me for 7 years already) does that job.

I also like listing things (in my Palm) I need to buy the instant they pop up in my mind. Like when I’m doing a little carpentry and finds out I need to get a new drill bit. I might forget it for a while and just be reminded of it the next time I use the hand drill, which I don’t really use that often. And that’s where immediately listing things I need to buy gets so useful. I only get to shop once a week (either Saturday or Sunday) and it’s so convenient to think that I have everything I need to buy in my old Palm. Also, I can easily re-read the list and in the case of limited money (which always is the case), I can prioritize what  needs to be bought first.

Anyway, planners and diaries were scattered around National Bookstore when I dropped by this afternoon. I actually went there to ask if the hard bound Twilight book was already available (and it’s not). Upon passing by the planners, Angel came to mind. She’s not into planners. I used to buy her one every year when she was in high school. I stopped buying when she started wanting to be the one to choose her own stuff. But recently I’ve been seeing pieces of scratch paper in her bedroom  with reminders like do the laundry, research on blah blah, call someone… And I thought she might now find a planner useful.

I bought a small one. Something that can fit into her kikay kit or whatever small pouch she carries. But I specifically looked for one which didn’t have time elements. Like a day in a normal planner would almost always be divided into hourly lines from 8 am to 5 pm. Eh her class starts at 8 am to 8 pm. LOL And it’s nonsense. I used to hate having those kinds of planners when I was a student. I wanted something to write what I’ll be doing for the entire day like “meet up with friends at SM” or “watch movies with sis” and imagine putting that on the top line which has an “8 AM” on the left side. But well, that’s me. Though I’m kinda sure Angel would have the same view about it.

Come to think of it, I hate time restrictions even on planners!

I went to Dr. Erich’s clinic after lunch to have my braces adjusted. No lines. Loved it. There’s always no line whenever I bring Princess along. It’s so cool how Dr. Erich’s gown was in the shade of his clinic’s new paint. His mom actually had the clinic repainted while he was in Australia last year. And before the repaint (and the Australia getaway), his gown used to be white with prints of animated teeth and dental stuff. He looked rather formal now.And all throughout the adjustment, Princess was on my lap, just obediently observing. Love the dog, really.

Live Life to the Fullest!

Was sick yesterday. My temp's normal but I felt so cold I was shivering. It's the effect (on me) of lack of sleep and too much coffee. Didn't sleep Thursday night because I had to finish something I need Friday. The next thing I realized, it was already 8 in the morning and I have to start working. After countless cups of coffee (distributed within the day), I needed to put on a jacket and cover myself with a blanket. I knew it was from lack of sleep but the problem was, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't put myself to sleep. Was able to sleep 11pm Friday. And I'm okay now. A little light-headed but okay.

I don't want it to happen again.

I'm not a very healthy-living person. I sleep so late because of work.

I always tell myself to work hard so I can enjoy life more. But then I realized that I wouldn't be able to enjoy life if I didn't take good care of my health. Oh well. Should I turn vegan to compensate for my poor sleeping habits? LOL can't do that.

Anyway, I've been forming a list of things I wanna achieve for this year, and that includes things I can do to take care of my health. I'm also listing the THINGS THAT I WANNA ACQUIRE. It's still not final, though, so I can't share it just yet.

And I'm so serious about "living happy" this year, look what I found in the net. It's cool. They can be some sort of reminders to us, like when we've been surfing the net the whole day we can remind ourselves to "hey, do number 1!" Here it is: How to Live Life to the Fullest:


1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day and while you walk, smile.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, "My purpose is to... today."
4. Live with 3 E's... Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy, and the 3 F's... Faith, Family, Friends.
5. Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of six.
6. Dream more while you are awake.
7. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
8. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn, pass all your tests. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
9. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
10. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
11. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
12. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
13. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagreements.
14. Make peace with your past, so it won't mess up the present.
15. Don't compare your life with others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
16. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
17. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
18. Forgive everyone for everything.
19. What other people think of you is none of your business.
20. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
21. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
22. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will stay in touch.
23. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
24. The best is yet to come.
25. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
26. Do the right thing!
27. Call your family often.
28. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: "I am thankful for..." and "Today I accomplished..."
29. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
30. Enjoy the ride. Remember that this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. Make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

Flash Drive as an Extra Windows XP Memory

I haven't done this yet cuz I don't have a flash drive. I haven't bought one ever since. I haven't had a need for it (yet). But this video sounds cool. Perhaps I can buy one and try it.
